This Privacy Policy for Reverie Books Ltd (doing business as Reverie) ('we', 'us', or 'our') describes how and why we collect, store, use, and share your personal information when you use our mobile application Reverie ('the App') and related services ('Services').

Based on your reading activity, we generate: reader archetypes, Reading Diagnosis, hidden traits, DNA match percentages, Reading Season, and (for Obsidian subscribers) Reading Season archive, monthly DNA snapshots, and sigil percentiles. This constitutes inferences drawn from your personal data used only to power features within the App for your benefit.
We do not collect or store payment card numbers or billing addresses. All purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat.
We process your information to: create and manage your account; generate your Reverie DNA profile and Soulprint; enable community features; send push notifications (with your permission); improve the App via analytics (subject to your preferences); monitor and fix technical errors; prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
We share your information only with third-party service providers necessary to operate the App. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers.

Some of our service providers are based outside the UK. Where we transfer your personal information outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). Providers: Vercel (US), PostHog (US), Sentry (US), OpenAI (US), RevenueCat (US). You can request copies of relevant safeguards by contacting us at team@reverie.at.
When you register using Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider to create and manage your account. We do not receive your contacts, friends list, or any other information beyond what is necessary for authentication.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal information will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days, except where required by law. Anonymised aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.
We implement: HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit; database row-level security; Firebase authentication with industry-standard security; API rate limiting and bot protection; and restricted access to production systems. No electronic system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee against all breaches.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data; correct inaccuracies; request deletion; restrict processing; data portability; object to processing; and request human review of automated decisions. To exercise any right, email team@reverie.at with the subject line "Privacy Request — [your username]". We will respond within 30 days.
You may also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
We use PostHog to collect anonymised data about how users interact with the App. To opt out: open Reverie → Settings → Privacy → toggle off "Analytics & Personalisation". Users 16 and over are opted in by default. Users under 16 are opted out by default. Opting out does not affect any App features.
We honour your analytics preferences as set within the App. We do not currently respond to system-level Do-Not-Track signals as no uniform standard has been adopted.
Residents of California and certain other US states have additional rights including the right to access, correct, or delete their personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, email team@reverie.at with the subject line "US Privacy Request - [your username]".
You must be at least 13 years old to use Reverie. We collect your date of birth at registration to verify this. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will delete their account immediately.
For users under 16: analytics tracking is disabled by default; accounts are set to private by default; we do not use their data for commercial profiling or targeted advertising.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created a Reverie account, please email team@reverie.at with the subject line "Child Account Deletion Request".
We have designed Reverie with the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code in mind, including: minimum data collection; private-by-default accounts; no direct messaging; block and report tools; and default analytics opt-out for under-16s.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or prominent in-app notice before they take effect.
